About Your Yurt

Your yurt has been created as a calm and cosy space where you can truly relax and slow down.

Inside, you will find a comfortable place to sleep, soft furnishings, and warm touches that make it easy to settle in and feel at home. The space is designed to be simple, peaceful, and welcoming, with everything arranged so you can unwind, read, talk, rest, or simply listen to the sounds of the countryside.

When the evenings draw in, your yurt becomes a particularly snug place to be. Gentle lighting, layered textures, and warmth create a space that feels comforting and restful after a day outdoors. It is a lovely spot to curl up with a book, share a drink, or enjoy a quiet early night.

Each yurt has its own private outdoor area too, giving you space to step outside, sit, breathe, and enjoy being surrounded by nature, whether that is in the early morning or under the evening sky.

We hope your yurt feels like a little retreat during your stay.

Showers and Bathroom Facilities

The shower and toilet facilities are dotted around the site, all within a short walk of the yurts.

There are two shower cubicles located on the site, along with one larger indoor shower room attached to the kitchen area. This larger shower room is well suited to families with younger children.

The toilets are arranged in the same way, with two smaller cubicle style toilets around the site and one larger toilet shed.

All facilities are kept simple, clean, and comfortable, with hot showers so you can freshen up after a day outdoors or start your morning feeling relaxed. Eco friendly hand soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided.

A mirror is available in the larger shower room, and there are also mirrors inside the yurts, often at the dressing table.

We kindly ask everyone to be mindful that these are shared facilities and to leave them as you would hope to find them, ready for the next guest to enjoy.

As the showers are in separate buildings, many guests find it useful to bring flip flops or crocs and something warm to slip on in the evenings.

If there is ever an issue with the facilities during your stay, please let us know so we can sort it as quickly as possible.

Fire, Stoves, and Outdoor Living

Fire is an important part of staying at Heart of the Wye and is something many guests enjoy using during their time here.

For everyone’s safety, please read this section carefully before using the stove or fire pit.

Each yurt has a wood burning stove, and each outdoor area has a fire pit. These are there for warmth and outdoor cooking, and we ask that they are always used with care.

When you arrive, we will show you how to build and light the indoor stove during your walk around the site.

Inside the yurt, only the eco logs provided or purchased from us should be used in the wood burning stove. Please do not burn outdoor wood, rubbish, or any other materials inside. Always make sure the stove door is closed when a fire is lit, and never leave it unattended. Please do not place any items on or around the stove, and keep the area clear at all times.

Outside, the fire pit can be used for warmth and cooking. Please only light fires in the fire pit provided. Children must always be supervised around fires. In periods of very dry weather extra caution must be taken and we may ask that outdoor fires are not usede will let you know if this applies during your stay.

If you are unsure about anything, or would like help, please let us know. We are always happy to help.

Purchasing fire wood

There are several ways to experience the cosy ambiance of a wood fire while staying at Heart of the Wye Glamping. We've recently added wood-burning stoves in the Yurt, and you'll find a small firepit right outside your private. Additionally, there's a larger communal fire pit at the bottom of the field, which is a favourite among exclusive hire groups

To purchase logs during your stay, you can either scan the QR code below, alternatively, you can leave cash in the yurt on your departure.

Bags of logs are £8 and include kindling and fire starters.

We also sell larger bundles of logs for the communal fire pit at £15 for a wheelbarrow load.

Cooking and Eating On Site

There are several ways to enjoy food during your stay, whether you are here quietly as a couple or on your own, or as part of a larger group.

Each yurt has its own outdoor cooking area, which is perfect for relaxed meals close to your space. Many guests enjoy cooking outside, whether that is a simple breakfast, something on the griddle, or using the fire pit to cook over the open fire.

You are also very welcome to use the shared kitchen, which gives you more space and shelter to prepare meals. This can be especially useful if the weather is cooler or wet, or if you are cooking more than one dish.

For guests staying together as a group, there are shared areas that make it easy to cook and eat at the same time. There is also a large outdoor gas barbecue available for group use, which works really well for shared meals.

For exclusive group bookings, it is also possible to arrange for a private chef to come to the site and prepare a meal for you. This can be a really special way to celebrate or simply relax and enjoy being looked after. If this is something you would like to explore, please get in touch with us before your stay.

Many guests enjoy a mixture of all of these options.
